A demonstration project led by Artemis Technologies, in partnership with Vattenfall, Tidal Transit, Lloyd’s Register and the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, has completed a technical trial of the dual-propulsion, fully electric Artemis EF-12 crew transfer vessel (CTV) at the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, located off the east coast of Scotland.
The aim of the project was to test and deploy the 100% electric CTV in a live operational setting. Vattenfall, together with ORE Catapult, supported the demonstration and provided access to the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm. Tidal Transit contributed crew transfer expertise and operational support for the Artemis EF-12 during the trial.
The 11-turbine Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm is located 2.5 kilometres off the coast of Aberdeen in the North Sea. Vattenfall and ORE Catapult use the site as part of an ongoing testing and demonstration partnership.
The Artemis eFoiler CTV demonstration was part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE), part of the Department for Transport.
