Bernhard Schulte Offshore has taken delivery of its second Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) from Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel, named Windea Clausius, was christened on 4 September and will operate in offshore energy markets.
The vessel has two sterns with azimuth propellers at both ends. It is equipped with a height-adjustable walk-to-work gangway and elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfers, as well as a 3D motion-compensated crane with a five-tonne capacity. A height-adjustable boat landing system enables transfer between the CSOV and smaller crew transfer vessels.
Accommodation includes 111 cabins for up to 132 people, with 90 cabins available for charterers’ personnel. Propulsion is hybrid battery-based with methanol fuel readiness. The vessel is intended for operations and maintenance and construction support roles.
Windea Clausius is named after physicist Rudolf Clausius, continuing BSO’s practice of naming vessels after scientists. The company’s CSOV fleet now comprises five vessels.
