Chinese state-owned power developer Huaneng has issued a tender for the construction of a test bench capable of testing offshore wind turbines of up to 35 MW.
The project will prepare infrastructure to support future large-scale machines, including a foundation, lifting platform, and worker facilities such as offices. The test site will be located in Yingkou, an industrial coastal city in northeast China near the border with North Korea. The first turbine to be tested there will be a 26 MW semi-direct drive offshore model, paired with a 5 MW/10 MWh energy storage system.
