Oceanic Wind Energy and Coast Tsimshian Enterprises have been jointly awarded an Investigative Use Permit (IUP) for the initial phase of an offshore wind project in Hecate Strait, west of Stephens Island. The proposed first phase targets a capacity of between 600 and 700 MW.
Coast Tsimshian Enterprises is a 50/50 partnership between the Metlakatla and Lax Kw’alaams First Nations. The IUP grants exclusive rights to occupy and use Crown land to conduct site investigations and collect environmental and technical data related to project development.
