The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has appointed OWC to support geophysical and geotechnical surveys at the Leixões and Figueira da Foz wind farm areas. Both sites form part of Portugal’s Allocation Plan for Offshore Renewable Energy.
OWC will provide client representatives for the offshore survey programme, working with Portugal-based Hidromod, also part of ABL Group. The work covers multibeam echosounder, side scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiling and seismic acquisition, along with seabed sampling, vibrocores and cone penetration tests. IPMA began the survey campaign in April, with OWC and Hidromod joining in September. Operations are scheduled to run into November.
